Telangana braces for heavy rain as monsoon set to cover entire stat

HYDERABAD: Telangana is set to experience a major change in weather after weeks of intense heat. Maximum temperatures had reached up to 41°C in several areas. Now, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy rainfall across the state from June 23 to 28.
The IMD said the southwest monsoon will advance into the remaining parts of Telangana within the next 48 hours. It will soon cover the entire state. As a result, rainfall activity is expected to intensify over the coming week.
The forecast also indicates heavy rain at isolated places across Telangana between June 23 and 28. Light to moderate rain or thundershowers may occur at several locations during this period. The showers are likely to bring relief from the intense summer heat.
Thunderstorms likely across Telangana
The weather department has warned of thunderstorms across the state. These storms may bring lightning and gusty winds reaching speeds of 50–60 kmph. The IMD expects such conditions in isolated places across all districts over the next seven days. Authorities have advised residents to stay cautious during severe weather.
Heatwave persists in northern districts
Despite strengthening monsoon conditions, heatwave conditions continued in some northern districts. Nizamabad reported severe heat in isolated areas during the last 24 hours. Adilabad and Peddapalle also experienced heatwave conditions.
Ramagundam recorded the highest temperature in the state at 41°C.
Scattered rainfall recorded
Rain occurred at one or two places across Telangana in the past 24 hours. Meteorologists expect rainfall activity to increase over the next four days. The strengthening monsoon and cloud cover may reduce maximum temperatures by up to 5°C in several regions.
