HYDERABAD: A severe heatwave swept across Telangana on Wednesday, pushing temperatures to uncomfortable levels and disrupting normal life in several districts.

Begum Bazar in Hyderabad recorded 41.2°C, while Bheemgal in Nizamabad district touched a scorching 43.3°C. These figures highlight the intensifying heat across the state.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Hyderabad has issued a heatwave warning for multiple districts. Officials expect temperatures to rise further over the next five days.

Hyderabad and nearby areas will likely see partly cloudy skies with hazy mornings for the next 48 hours. Daytime temperatures may hover around 41°C, while nighttime temperatures could settle near 27°C.

Southerly to south-westerly winds will blow at speeds of 6–8 kmph.

The latest meteorological bulletin warns that some areas may face harsh weather. Authorities have issued a yellow alert.

Several districts, including Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad and Khammam, will likely face extreme heat. Heatwave conditions may also persist in Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy and Jogulamba Gadwal.

The IMD has urged residents to take precautions. People should stay hydrated and avoid direct sunlight during peak afternoon hours.

IMD Hyderabad Director Dr Nagaratna said earlier rainfall over Gangetic West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and parts of north Tamil Nadu has now shifted to north interior Karnataka. As a result, it will not affect Telangana.

She added that dry weather will continue for the next five days. Temperatures may rise by 2°C to 3°C in several districts.

In Hyderabad, temperatures will likely range between 41°C and 43°C during this period.
