Telangana Declares Heatwaves As State Specific Disaster; Ex Gratia Increased To Rs. 4 Lakhs

HYDERABAD: Telangana continued to experience intense heat on Tuesday, with maximum temperatures rising by up to 3°C. Several districts recorded temperatures between 40°C and 43°C.

Neelwai in Mancherial district recorded the state’s highest temperature at 43°C. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) reported heatwave conditions in Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu and Bhadradri Kothagudem districts.

The IMD said heatwave conditions would likely persist on Wednesday in Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu and Bhadradri Kothagudem districts.

However, the southwest monsoon is likely to advance further into Telangana over the next four to five days.

The IMD said weather conditions favour the monsoon’s progress into more parts of Telangana, Odisha, Jharkhand, Bihar and Chhattisgarh.

Meteorologists linked the current weather pattern to a trough stretching from a cyclonic circulation over east Uttar Pradesh to south coastal Andhra Pradesh. The system passes through east Madhya Pradesh, east Vidarbha and Telangana.

The IMD forecast light to moderate rain or thundershowers at isolated places on Wednesday. It expects weather conditions to improve further by June 18.
