KTR PA, PRO get HC relief; Saifabad police seek appearance

Pawan Khera outside court amid anticipatory bail proceedings in Telangana High Court

HYDERABAD: Saifabad police have directed Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K T Rama Rao’s personal assistant Kumbala Mahender Reddy and media coordinator and PRO Manikya Mahesh to appear before the investigating officer on September 14.

The notice relates to a case registered over the September 7 Assembly incident.

High Court allows probe to continue

Saifabad police sub-inspector M Satyanarayana issued the notice in Crime No. 371/2026. Police registered the case on September 9 under Sections 132, 352 and 351(2), read with Section 3(5), of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Reserve Inspector Busaramoni Jangaiah of the CAR Headquarters filed the complaint.

The notice said Mahesh and Mahender Reddy approached the Telangana High Court. The court heard their criminal petition on September 11.

The court directed police not to take coercive steps against the petitioners. However, it allowed the investigating officer to continue the probe.

Duo asked to appear at 10am

Police have asked both men to appear before the investigating officer at Saifabad police station at 10am on September 14.

The petitioners had sought the quashing of Crime No. 371/2026. The matter remains pending before the High Court.

The case stems from a confrontation between BRS leaders and police personnel at the Assembly on September 7. Police had earlier registered cases over alleged misbehaviour with personnel during the standoff at the Assembly gates.
