Telangana seizes ₹100 crore assets of ex-Kaleshwaram MD Hari Ram

HYDERABAD: The state government has ordered the attachment of properties belonging to B Hari Ram, former Engineer-in-Chief (ENC) of Gajwel and ex-Managing Director of Kaleshwaram Irrigation Project Corporation Limited (KIPCL), in a disproportionate assets case.
On Monday, Irrigation Department Special Chief Secretary Rahul Bojja and CAD Department issued a notification placing Hari Ram’s properties in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh under the prohibited list for sale and transfer. The action followed the court’s approval of an Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) petition seeking attachment of assets after Hari Ram’s arrest earlier 2025.
28 acres in Siddipet among seized properties
According to the notification, the attached assets include 28 acres of agricultural land in Markook mandal of Siddipet district, villas in Shaikpet and Kondapur, flats in Madhapur, Srinagar Colony, and Narsingi, two residential houses in Srinagar Colony, 20 guntas of land in Patancheru, six acres of mango orchard in Bommalaramaram, a building under construction in Kothagudem, and open plots in Kuthubullapur and Miryalaguda, along with a commercial site in Amaravati, Andhra Pradesh.
The total market value of these assets is estimated to exceed ₹100 crore.
AEE Nikesh Kumar’s ₹17.73 crore assets also attached
In a parallel action, the government also attached assets worth ₹17.73 crore belonging to H Nikesh Kumar, Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) in the same department, who is co-accused in the case.
Both Hari Ram and Nikesh Kumar were earlier arrested by the ACB and later released on bail. They remain under suspension. The state government acted after obtaining approval from the Telangana Vigilance Commission, officials said.
Officials clarified that attachment is a temporary seizure; if the court’s final orders favour the accused, the properties will be returned. Otherwise, they will be permanently confiscated by the government.
Action likely on EE Nune Sridhar next
The government is also likely to attach the properties of Nune Sridhar, Executive Engineer in the Irrigation Department, who was arrested in a similar disproportionate assets case. The government has sought the Vigilance Commission’s approval for this move, sources said.
