Telangana Govt Approves Rs.10,000 Crore Hyderabad development

Hyderabad: The Telangana Cabinet has approved a budget estimated at Rs. 2.95 lakh crore. Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Bhatti Vikramarka presented the Telangana Budget in the Telangana Legislative Assembly at 12 pm. This is the first full budget under a Congress-led state government since the formation of Telangana. The budget allocates Rs. 10,000 crores for the development of Hyderabad, focusing on projects such as the Old City metro, Airport metro, Regional Ring Road, Musi Riverfront development, and the establishment of HYDRAA.

Key allocations include Rs. 3,065 crores to GHMC, Rs. 500 crores to HMDA, Rs. 3,385 crores to Metro Water Works, Rs. 200 crores to HYDRAA, Rs. 100 crores for the extension of the metro to the Airport, Rs. 200 crores for ORR, Rs. 500 crores for Hyderabad Metro Rail, Rs. 500 crores for the extension of the metro to the Old City, Rs. 50 crores for MMTS, and Rs. 1,500 crores for the Musi Riverfront project.

The government is proposing to develop 78.4 kilometers of 5 extended corridors with an outlay of Rs. 24,042 crores. As part of this project, the Metro will be extended to the Old City and further connected to Shamshabad Airport. Similarly, the government will extend the present corridors from Nagole to LB Nagar. Additionally, the government has proposed developing 28 stations at Nagole, LB Nagar, and Chandrayangutta as interchange stations. Furthermore, the government is planning to extend the Metro facility from Miyapur to Patancheru and from LB Nagar to Hayathnagar.

 

Regarding the Regional Ring Road (RRR), the state government has proposed Rs. 1,525 crores. The RRR aims to upgrade the northern road from Sanga Reddy to Toopran, Gajwel, and Choutuppal (158.6 km), and the southern road from Choutuppal to Shadhnagar and Sanga Reddy (189 km) to facilitate their designation as National Highways. The RRR will initially be constructed as a four-lane highway, expandable to 8 lanes, and is expected to attract industrial, service, and transport park development in the region between ORR and RRR.

The estimated cost for the northern segment of RRR is Rs. 13,522 crores and Rs. 12,980 crores for the southern segment.
