Telangana Government suspends Shiva Balakrishna amidst ACB arrest
HYDERABAD: Telangana government on Tuesday suspended Shiva Balakrishna, the Chief General Manager of Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited, Telangana, the Secretary of the Telangana Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA), and the former director of Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA).
The suspension was imposed following the Anti-Corruption Bureau’s (ACB) search of Shiva Balakrishna’s residence in Manikonda, along with 14 other locations belonging to his relatives and aides on January 24, 2024.
The ACB seized Rs. 84,60,850 in cash and discovered gold ornaments weighing approximately 1,800 grams. Searches also indicated that Shiva Balakrishna had assets of Rs.8,26,48,999 and disproportionate assets worth Rs.7,62,23,999.
Following the searches, the ACB apprehended Balakrishna and brought him before the Principal Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases in Hyderabad on January 25, 2024. Investigations are still ongoing.
The Director of Town and Country Planning in Hyderabad has been directed to pay Shiva Balakrishna a subsistence allowance during his period of suspension.
