Telangana to develop Godavari temples ahead of 2027 Pushkaralu: Laxman Kumar
HYDERABAD: Welfare Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar on Sunday said the Telangana government will develop temples along the Godavari river ahead of the Godavari Pushkaralu in 2027.
During his visit to Kotilingala in Velgatur mandal of Jagtial district, the minister offered prayers at the Sri Koteshwara Swamy Temple. He also reviewed the proposed development works.
Laxman Kumar said the government has allocated funds in advance to improve temples along the Godavari, from Basara to Bhadrachalam. The initiative aims to strengthen infrastructure before the Pushkaralu.
He said the government has earmarked ₹10 crore each for the development of the temples at Dharmapuri and Kotilingala. In addition, it has sanctioned development works worth ₹117 crore for the Dharmapuri constituency.
At Kotilingala, the government will construct Pushkar ghats at a cost of ₹8 crore. It will also build the Kotilingala–Pashigam road with an estimated investment of ₹8 crore.
Moreover, the government will spend ₹10 crore on developing the Dharmapuri Ugra Narasimha Swamy Temple. It will also take up a four-lane road project from Velgatur to Kotilingala at a cost of ₹20 crore.
Furthermore, the minister said the government will develop mini tank bunds at Kotilingala and Rajakkapalli. He added that officials will create adequate facilities to accommodate the large number of devotees expected during the 2027 Godavari Pushkaralu.
