HYDERABAD: The Telangana government plans to introduce free travel on Multi-Modal Transport System (MMTS) trains for both women and men in Hyderabad. Officials expect to launch the scheme on June 2 to mark Telangana Formation Day.
The state government will bear an estimated annual revenue loss of around ₹10 crore to roll out the scheme.
Railways seek draft agreement before final approval
South Central Railway has responded positively and asked the state government to submit a draft memorandum of understanding (MoU). The Railway Board will take the final decision on the proposal.
If approved, the initiative could improve urban mobility and encourage more people to use suburban rail services in the city.
