Telangana Food Safety officials find cockroach infestation in Malakpet restaurants
Hyderabad: A Task Force from the Commissioner of Food Safety, Telangana, conducted inspections in the Malakpet area on August 07, 2024, and uncovered multiple food safety violations at local food establishments.
Capital Multi-Cuisine Restaurant, Malakpet
The Capital Multi-Cuisine Restaurant, located in Malakpet, was found to be in violation of several food safety regulations. The establishment failed to provide medical fitness certificates for food handlers and pest control records.
Food Safety officials found that kitchen doors and windows lacked proper insect-proof screens. Additionally, refrigerators were in an unsanitary condition, with food items stored uncovered and unlabeled.
A live cockroach infestation, house flies, and potential rat infestation were observed in the kitchen. Synthetic food colors were detected in biryani and non-vegetarian dishes, and the items were immediately discarded.
Food handlers were found without wearing headcaps, gloves, or aprons. Additionally, the restaurant used garbage covers instead of dustbins. Bakery items such as bread and buns were prepared, packed, and sold on-premises without proper labeling.

Al Saud Baital Mandi, Malakpet
Al Saud Baital Mandi, another establishment in Malakpet, also faced multiple violations. Medical fitness certificates for food handlers and pest control records were unavailable. Windows and doors were not fitted with insect-proof screens.
The Task Force team found raw and semi-cooked food items stored uncovered and unlabeled.
A live cockroach infestation was also observed, and synthetic food colors were found in the kitchen area and subsequently discarded. Food handlers were found without wearing headcaps, gloves, or aprons.
The Food Safety Task Force has initiated necessary actions against the establishments found to be violating food safety regulations. The authorities will continue to monitor food safety standards in the city.
