Listen to Story

Hyderabad: In a recent inspection, the Telangana Commissioner of Food Safetyโ€™s State-level Task Force discovered serious violations at All Rich Dairy Pvt Ltd (Swetha Dairy) in Pasumamula, ๐—”๐—ฏ๐—ฑ๐˜‚๐—น๐—น๐—ฎ๐—ฝ๐˜‚๐—ฟ๐—บ๐—ฒ๐˜, Rangareddy district. The raid, conducted on December 30, 2024, led to the suspension of the dairy’s operating license.

The team found that the dairy had failed to display its FSSAI license at a prominent location, and several categories of milk products were not included under the license. Further inspection revealed poor hygiene and sanitation conditions within the dairy processing unit.

Among the most concerning findings were rusted machinery, damaged walls, and roofs in the cold storage areas. The task force also observed rust seepage where final dairy products, including milk and curd, were being stored.

A significant amount of caustic soda (850 kg) was found on-site, raising concerns that it might be used for adulteration. Additionally, raw materials were improperly stored, and scrap materials were found mixed with finished products.

Labeling defects were identified on several final products, including issues with cross-branding and non-declaration of additives, such as artificial flavors. Harmful chemicals and disinfectants were found stored near milk-based products like paneer and flavored milk in the same refrigeration units.

The inspection also led to the seizure of 280 kg of ghee, suspected of containing undeclared additives. Other violations included the use of non-FSSAI certified lactic acid cultures in curd production, a lack of water analysis reports, and no medical test records for food handlers. Furthermore, no internal or external audit records, quality control documents, waste management plans, sanitation and maintenance logs, or complaint and recall records were available.

In response to these findings, the Telangana State Commissioner of Food Safety has suspended the dairyโ€™s license until further investigation.
