Telangana sets up first bird-watching cabin at Puligundala eco-tourism site

HYDERABAD: The Telangana forest department has established the state’s first bird-watching cabin at the Puligundala eco-tourism site in Khammam district, aiming to promote biodiversity conservation and eco-tourism.
The facility has been set up within a forest area to allow visitors to observe birdlife without disturbing natural habitats. Officials said the structure has been designed as an eco-friendly installation to minimise human impact on wildlife.
The initiative is also expected to regulate visitor movement in sensitive forest zones. Authorities said it would support bird observation, documentation and awareness among tourists.
Officials say project will strengthen eco-tourism potential in region
District forest officer Siddharth Vikram Singh said the cabin marks a step towards sustainable eco-tourism and conservation outreach.
He said the facility is expected to integrate conservation, education and tourism, while offering a structured experience for visitors. “The initiative will also promote public engagement with nature while ensuring protection of biodiversity,” he added.
Officials said the development will further strengthen Puligundala’s position as an emerging eco-tourism destination in the state.
