Film Chambers

HYDERABAD: The Telangana State Film Chamber of Commerce has objected to the state government’s GO 77 on the classification of cinema theatres and revision of ticket prices.

The chamber representatives have written to the principal secretary of the home department seeking a review of the government’s decision.

Film chamber raises concerns over new theatre categories

Industry representatives have expressed concern over the new classification system for single-screen and multiplex theatres.

The chamber is particularly worried about the newly introduced ‘special theatre’ category and its rules.

According to the chamber, the new provisions could have a significant impact on the viability of single-screen theatres, particularly town theatres in small towns and semi-urban areas.

The film chamber has urged the government to reconsider the provisions and review the classification and ticket pricing changes introduced through GO 77.
