Telangana Excise Stf Seizes Drugs & Liquor In 2024 Crackdown

Hyderabad: In 2024, the Special Task Force (STF) teams of the Telangana Excise Department filed a total of 587 cases and made notable seizures in their efforts to combat crime linked to narcotics, illicit liquor, and illegal substances. These cases included 285 related to country liquor production, 208 concerning narcotic drugs, and 64 tied to counterfeit liquor manufacturing and sales. The STF also seized 1123 kilograms of ganja, 12 kilograms of hashish oil, and 1175 liters of non-duty paid liquor, among other contraband.

The Excise Department’s STF is focused on liquor-related crimes and tackles drug trafficking and illicit trade. The departmentโ€™s STF teams were crucial in dismantling networks involved in non-duty-paid liquor, ganja, and other illegal substances, contributing significantly to crime control efforts alongside law enforcement agencies.

The STF comprises four teams: two from the police department and two from the Excise Department, supervised by officers at the DSP level. These teams, designated as A, B, C, and D, are each led by senior officers: A Team Leader is Excise Superintendent Nandyala Anji Reddy, B Team Leader is Excise Superintendent Pradeep Rao, C Team Leader is DSP Tula Srinivas Rao, and D Team Leader is Tirupati Yadav.

Additional SP Bhaskar supervises all four teams, which include personnel ranging from constables to DSP-level officers. Together, they have conducted multiple raids across five sectors, making significant inroads into illegal activities.

In 2024, the STF teams registered a total of cases across various groups. A Team led with 209 cases, followed by B Team with 153 cases. C Team and D Team recorded 110 and 113 cases, respectively.

Their work led to the seizure of various illegal substances, including 12 grams of cocaine, 259 grams of MDMA, 36 liters of country-made liquor, and 869 kilograms of chlorohydrate. A total of 153 vehicles were also confiscated during these operations.

Enforcement Director V.B. Kamalasan Reddy has announced that the best-performing members of the STF will be awarded certificates of appreciation and cash rewards to acknowledge their hard work and dedication.

The Excise Departmentโ€™s STF teams have played a vital role in curbing the distribution of illegal substances and illicit liquor, ensuring enhanced public safety, and maintaining law and order in Telangana.
