Telangana Excise books 841 cases, arrests 651 in 10-day anti-Gudumba and anti-drug drive

HYDERABAD: Telangana Excise Department registered 841 cases and arrested 651 persons during a special enforcement drive conducted across the state from June 12 to June 21.

The department also seized 119 vehicles during the 10-day crackdown targeting Gudumba production, illicit liquor trade and narcotics offences.

According to official figures, excise teams destroyed 64,435 litres of Gudumba brew and seized 3,191 litres of illicit liquor during the operation.

Warangal tops Gudumba cases

Warangal recorded the highest number of Gudumba-related cases during the special drive, highlighting the continued focus on curbing the manufacture and distribution of the illicit brew in the region.

Officials intensified inspections, raids and surveillance in vulnerable areas as part of the enforcement campaign.

Drugs seized during operation

The department also recovered 114.32 kg of narcotic substances, including ganja, cocaine, heroin and MDMA.

Excise officials said the drive formed part of the state’s continuing efforts against illicit liquor networks and drug trafficking.

The special operation was carried out across multiple districts with enforcement teams conducting coordinated checks and raids to identify offenders and dismantle illegal supply chains.
