Hyderabad CBIT tops Telangana engineering fee list

HYDERABAD: The Telangana government has fixed new tuition fees for 160 engineering colleges in the state for the 2025–28 block period. The maximum annual fee has been set at ₹1.83 lakh, with Chaitanya Bharathi Institute of Technology (CBIT) in Hyderabad charging the highest amount.
The fee for CBIT was increased by ₹18,000, from ₹1.65 lakh earlier to ₹1.83 lakh, making it the costliest engineering college in the state.
Vasavi, MGIT among colleges with high fees
After CBIT, Vasavi College of Engineering will charge ₹1.75 lakh, followed by Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Technology (MGIT) at ₹1.67 lakh.
Other colleges with high fees include CVR College of Engineering (₹1.63 lakh), G. Narayanamma Institute of Technology and Science (₹1.62 lakh) and Gokaraju Rangaraju Institute of Engineering and Technology (₹1.60 lakh).
Among the colleges with higher fees are VNR Vignana Jyothi Institute of Engineering and Technology (₹1.59 lakh), BVRIT (₹1.46 lakh), KITS Warangal (₹1.46 lakh) and MVSR Engineering College (₹1.43 lakh).
Large fee increase for G. Narayanamma college
One of the biggest fee hikes has been recorded at G. Narayanamma Institute of Technology and Science for Women in Shaikpet, Hyderabad.
The college charged ₹1.22 lakh in 2019. The fee was reduced to ₹1 lakh in 2022, but the latest revision increased it by ₹62,000, one of the highest increases among engineering colleges.
Minimum fee ₹45,000 in 19 colleges
Across Telangana, the minimum engineering tuition fee has been fixed at ₹45,000, applicable in 19 colleges.
Officials said the fees in these colleges were reduced by ₹3,500 to ₹45,000. All the institutions where fees were reduced are located on the outskirts of Hyderabad.
Authorities said the reduction was due to lack of basic infrastructure and facilities in those colleges. Meanwhile, 70 colleges will continue with the existing fee structure without any change.
Managements express dissatisfaction
Engineering college managements have expressed dissatisfaction with the government’s decision.
Some institutions said the fee revision did not consider the facilities and infrastructure they provide. A college in Ghatkesar said it may approach the court against the decision.
