Telangana Drugs Control Administration seizes overpriced medicines in Vanasthalipuram

VANASTHALIPURAM: The Telangana Drugs Control Administration on Tuesday seized two overpriced medicines in Vanasthalipuram, Hayathnagar Mandal, Rangareddy District.
Stocks worth a total of Rs. 5.52 lakhs were seized, including Itrarole-100 (Itraconazole Capsules BP 100 mg) and Itrarole-200 (Itraconazole Capsules BP 200 mg) during raids conducted on April 22 and April 23, 2024. The indicated MRP was significantly higher than the Ceiling Price set by the Central Government for the product
The products, Itraconazole Capsules 100 mg sold under the brand name ‘Itrarole-100’ and Itraconazole Capsules 200 mg sold under the brand name ‘Itrarole-200’, are under price control as per the Drugs (Prices Control) Order, 2013.
The prices of the products shall be in accordance with the ‘Ceiling Price’ fixed by the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA), Government of India.
Among the officers who carried out the raid at Vanasthalipuram, Hayathnagar Mandal, Rangareddy District, were Anjum Abida, Assistant Director, Rangareddy; Raju Laxmalla, Drugs Inspector, Hayathnagar; V. Ravikumar, Drugs Inspector, Balapur; and J. Nagaraju, Drugs Inspector, Saroornagar.
Further investigation will be conducted, and appropriate action will be taken against all offenders in accordance with the law. Essential medicines must adhere to the Ceiling Prices set by the Central Government. Overpricing of essential medicines is a violation under the Drugs (Prices Control) Order, 2013, and stringent action will be taken against violators.
