Telangana launches three-phase degree admissions

HYDERABAD: Degree admissions to government and private colleges in Telangana will be conducted in three phases this year, the Telangana Council of Higher Education announced on Monday.

Chairman Prof. V. Balakista Reddy released the Degree Online Services Telangana (DOST) 2026 schedule along with vice-chairmen Purushottam and Mahmood, secretary Sriram Venkatesh, and joint directors Rajender Singh and Balabhaskar.

Online applications for first-year degree admissions will open on April 15. Students who have passed Intermediate can apply through the DOST website and choose courses of their preference.

Admissions cover multiple universities and courses

Admissions will be offered through DOST in universities including Osmania, Kakatiya, Telangana, Palamuru, Mahatma Gandhi, Satavahana, Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Dr Manmohan Singh Earth Sciences University, and Chakali Ilamma Women’s University.

Courses include BA, BCom, BSc, BBA, BCA and BBM. Polytechnic colleges under the State Board of Technical Education will also offer admissions to D-Pharmacy courses.

The state has 909 government, private and aided degree colleges with 4,01,521 seats. Of these, 79 are residential degree colleges with 23,654 seats. Admissions in residential colleges will be handled separately by respective societies.

Three-phase counselling schedule announced

Registrations for the first phase will be open from April 15 to May 7. Students must exercise web options between April 30 and May 8. Seat allotment for the first phase will be announced on May 14.

The second phase will run from May 15 to May 25, and the third phase from May 31 to June 15.

Registration fee is ₹200 for the first phase and ₹400 for the second and third phases.

Students allotted seats must complete self-reporting at colleges between June 20 and June 27. Orientation programmes will be held on June 29 and June 30. First semester classes will begin on July 1.

DOST app enables self-registration via smartphone

The council has introduced a mobile application to allow students to register independently using smartphones. Registration can be completed using Aadhaar or facial recognition.

A WhatsApp chatbot (79010 02200) has been launched to address student queries. Officials said 40 help centres have been set up across the state. Students can also contact the DOST help desk at 040-23120416.
