T’gana Digital Media faces flak for getting national flag colours wrong

Hyderabad: Telangana Digital Media is facing criticism from social media users for the incorrect display of the national flag in its Republic Day post. The tricolour infographic on its X handle shows green colour at the top while saffron at the bottom, violating the Flag Code of India 2002.
Eagle-eyed social media users quickly pointed out the upside down colours of the national flag, prompting the Telangana Digital Media to delete the post.
The deleted post displayed the colours of national flag upside-down:
Reacting to the Telangana Digital Media wing, an X user called it an insult to the national flag and demanded the police to file a case against those responsible for the blunder.
“This is a official account of Telangana government. See how they print our national flag…! it’s a insult. File a case on Telangana govt officials @rashtrapatibhvn @ANI @PTI_News @AmitShah..” posted one X user Naveen Chary.
The tricolour features three colours: saffron, white and green in the same order. According to the Flag Code of India, the national flag should not be displayed in an inverted manner, i.e., the saffron band should not be the bottom band.
Meanwhile, the 76th Republic Day was celebrated with patriotic fervour across the Telangana state on Sunday. Governor Jishnu Dev Varma unfurled the National Flag and took the salute during a vibrant ceremonial parade. The parade saw a huge participation from thousands of citizens, including women and children at the Secunderabad Parade Grounds.
Several dignitaries including Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, Ministers, legislators, senior defence and civil officials, and their families, DGP Jitender, and Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari attended the Republic Day celebrations.
In his address, Governor Jishnu Dev Varma invoked Rabindranath Tagore’s visionary lines and urged citizens to uphold unity, inclusivity, and constitutional values. Varma also highlighted the Revanth Reddy-led Congress government’s achievements in agriculture, including record paddy production, crop loan waivers, and enhanced financial assistance under Rythu Bharosa, providing Rs 12,000 per acre annually to empower farmers and ensure productive land use.
