Telangana plans Digital Assembly, Digital Council: Sridhar Babu
HYDERABAD: The Telangana government plans to introduce a Digital Assembly and a Digital Council as part of its push to use technology to modernize governance, IT and Industries Minister D Sridhar Babu said on Friday.
The government also plans to issue blockchain-based certificates to improve the security and authenticity of citizens’ data, he said.
Emerging technologies to drive public service delivery
Sridhar Babu was speaking after inaugurating the AI Transformation Conclave Telangana in Hyderabad. The two-day conclave, held on August 6 and 7, is organized by Gov Connect in collaboration with Electronic Services Delivery (MeeSeva), Telangana government.
He said the state was leveraging emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain, data analytics and quantum computing to improve governance and public service delivery.
The government is also working to extend high-speed digital connectivity to rural areas through T-Fiber. It plans to ensure doorstep delivery of government services to senior citizens and persons with disabilities.
Paperless offices part of digital governance push
Sridhar Babu said the government was implementing paperless administration across departments under the Digital Office Project. Governance must evolve with technological advances to become more efficient, transparent and citizen-centric, he added.
Referring to Telangana’s existing digital governance initiatives, the minister said the state had introduced a Digital Cabinet and a real-time government dashboard integrating 20 departments.
He said Telangana had also introduced the country’s first AI-powered data exchange, WhatsApp-based citizen services and the Mee Ticket platform.
The initiatives are part of the government’s efforts to integrate technology into administration and make public services more accessible.
Senior officials attend AI Transformation Conclave
Among those present were Praveen Pardeshi, chief economic adviser to the Maharashtra chief minister’s office and CEO of Maharashtra Institution for Transformation (MITRA); GVL Satya Kumar, managing director of the Centre for Railway Information Systems (CRIS); Devesh Tyagi, chief executive officer of the National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI); and Saurabh K Tiwari, additional secretary, Direct Benefit Transfer, Government of India.
The conclave brings together policymakers, senior government officials and technology experts to discuss AI-driven governance, digital public infrastructure, citizen services, cybersecurity, data governance and emerging technologies.
