Telangana set to appoint new DGP soon

HYDERABAD:Â The Union Public Service Commission has sent a panel of three senior Indian Police Service officers to the Telangana government for the appointment of the next Director General of Police.
The panel includes CV Anand, Prabhakar Apte and Soumya Mishra. All three officers are currently serving in senior positions and are in contention for the top police post.
Selection process follows UPSC empanelment procedure
The panel has been prepared in line with the prescribed process, under which the UPSC shortlists eligible officers based on seniority, service record and experience.
The state government will appoint one of the three as the next Director General of Police.
Transition expected next month with retirement of incumbent
The current DGP, Shivdhar Reddy, will retire next month, prompting the selection of his successor.
The appointment is expected to be finalised before the incumbent demits office to ensure continuity in the state police leadership.
