The matter is sub-judice: Telangana DGP on Allu Arjun’s case

Hyderabad: As the investigations are on in the Sandhya theatre stampede case are on, the Telangana Director General of Police Dr Jitender on Sunday said law would take its own course. Icon star Allu Arjun is an accused in the case.
Addressing a press conference after releasing the annual crime roundup for 2024, Dr Jitender did not elaborate much in response to a query about the case against actor Allu Arjun but said the matter is sub-judice.
“Let us not talk about this. A lot of things have gone. The case is already under investigation. The court is also looking into various aspects of the case. It’s sub judice also,” the state police chief told reporters and added that, “moreover, the law will take its own course. This is what I have to say. Nothing more.”
It is pertinent to note here that the stampede during the premiere show of “Pushpa 2: The Rule” on December 4, a 38-year-old woman lost her life and her eight-year-old son was critically injured. The fans jostled to get closer after seeing their matinee idol in the theatre and the stampede-like situation resulted in the woman’s death who had come to the theatre along with her husband and two kids to watch the movie.
Based on a complaint from the victim’s husband, the Chikkadpally police registered a case and named the Telugu actor as accused number 11. He was produced before a city court, which remanded him to 14-day judicial custody. However, he was released after the high court granted him interim bail the same day.
On December 27, the actor appeared virtually before the Nampally court in the case. As his judicial remand period ended on Friday, he had to present himself before the court for further proceedings. The court adjourned the hearing to January 10. Meanwhile, the Nampally court posted the matter for hearing on his regular bail petition to December 30.
