Telangana DGP Emphasizes Zero Tolerance

Hyderabad: In a Crime Review Meeting, Telangana Director General of police(DGP) Dr. Jitender felicitated 36 police officers and 30 prosecutors for obtaining life convictions in 33 cases including 27 murder cases and 6 rape cases.

DGP Dr. Jitender emphasized the need to focus on preventive policing, take strict actions against rowdies and other Anti-Social elements.Half yearly Crime Review Meeting objective is to analyze crime trends and develop strategy to counter crime in a bid to enhance public safety and improve law enforcement.

Speaking on the occasion, DGP Dr. Jitender said, “There would be zero tolerance towards Crime against Women, Children, Cyber Crimes and Narcotics”.It was decided to formulate specific strategies to combating Narcotics and Cyber Crimes on a war footing with an aim to ensure that Telangana does not become a hub for these types of crimes. Various other presentations covering topics of cell phone theft, Anti Human Trafficking, Two wheeler theft, Gang Crimes and others were made by various officers.

Further DGP stressed upon the need to improve Road Safety. He instructed officers to have regular Road Safety meetings of all Stakeholders. He informed that there has been a decrease in total Road accidents this year. Concerted efforts are made to identify hotspots to ensure corrective steps are taken to further reduce fatalities. He also stressed on the need to improve the dial 100 response time.

Shikha Goel, ADGP, CID made a detailed presentation on the crime trends, focusing on major heads of crimes. She presented an analysis report of major crimes, explaining the hotspots of these crimes and strategy to control them.

During the meeting 36 officers and 30 prosecutors were given appreciation certificates by DGP for obtaining life convictions in 33 cases including 27 murder cases and 6 rape cases. Further it was decided that Half Yearly Crime Meeting shall be held regularly in physical mode henceforth. Also Monthly Crime Meeting at DG level shall continue to be held virtually every month.
