Drone Integration to Make Telangana’s 112 Emergency Response Faster and Smarter
HYDERABAD: Telangana will soon integrate drones with its 112 Emergency Response Service to improve response time, Director General of Police C.V. Anand said on Friday. He unveiled a technology-driven policing roadmap while chairing a statewide review meeting with senior police officers and Station House Officers (SHOs).
The DGP also directed the police force to strengthen cybercrime investigations, intensify anti-drug operations, improve visible policing and accelerate the use of digital policing tools.
Technology to drive faster policing
Reviewing the implementation of the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS), Anand said technology must help deliver faster, transparent and citizen-friendly policing. He asked officers to make full use of CCTNS, the e-Sakshya portal and the Lathi mobile application.
Additionally, he instructed officers to upload evidence related to every First Information Report (FIR) to the e-Sakshya portal without delay. According to him, timely uploads will strengthen investigations and improve prosecution.
Anand said CCTNS data updating across Telangana has reached nearly 60% to 70%. Adilabad, Rajanna Sircilla and Jayashankar Bhupalpally districts have emerged as the best performers.
Meanwhile, Jayashankar Bhupalpally topped e-Sakshya implementation with 55% progress. Siddipet followed with 39%, while Nalgonda recorded 31%. Kamareddy achieved the highest compliance in implementing e-summons at 92.86%, followed closely by Wanaparthy at 92%.
DGP stresses visible policing and public accessibility
The DGP instructed officers to prioritise visible policing and remain accessible to the public. He asked senior officers to conduct regular field visits and inspect police stations to review investigations, crime prevention measures and grievance redressal.
Furthermore, he directed police stations to strictly follow designated public visiting hours. Officers should also work from their offices instead of camp offices, he said.
Expressing concern over complaints against some police personnel, Anand urged officers to maintain professionalism. He specifically asked them to avoid unnecessary interference in civil disputes, especially land-related matters. At the same time, he directed police units to closely monitor misinformation and rumours circulating on social media.
Cybercrime and anti-drug operations remain key priorities
The DGP said nearly 70% of cybercrime cases in Telangana are registered in the four commissionerates of Hyderabad. Therefore, he directed officers to speed up case registration and investigations. He also announced regular specialised training programmes to strengthen technical capabilities.
In addition, Anand instructed all districts to intensify anti-narcotics operations. He asked police to eliminate ganja cultivation and trafficking across the state.
Calling the protection of young people from drug abuse a social responsibility, Anand urged educational institutions to effectively implement Anti-Drugs and Safety Committees.
He appreciated awareness campaigns conducted by the EAGLE wing. So far, the initiative has provided counselling and rehabilitation support to 825 students.
Road safety and emergency response
Reviewing the state’s “Arrive Alive” road safety campaign, Anand said Telangana has recorded a decline in road accident fatalities.
He directed police to strengthen vehicle inspections, enforce traffic rules more effectively and improve emergency response systems.
Moreover, he announced that the government will soon integrate drones with the 112 Emergency Response Service. The move aims to improve the speed and efficiency of emergency responses across Telangana.
Police personnel to receive awards
The DGP also announced rewards for police personnel who displayed exceptional service.
Among those honoured was Metpally Sub-Inspector Anwar Begum of Jagtial district, who saved the life of a man attempting suicide after responding to a Dial-100 emergency call.
Gachibowli police officer Naresh received recognition for arresting a Nepali burglary gang.
Circle Inspector Ramakanth, investigating officer K. Naveen Kumar and Circle Inspector Srinivas earned honours for securing convictions in a murder case in Rajanna Sircilla district.
Similarly, Circle Inspector Sridhar and investigating officer Venkataraja Goud received recognition for successfully investigating a murder case in Medak district that resulted in life imprisonment for the accused.
Head Constable Vishnu of Nalgonda district also received commendation for apprehending a most-wanted criminal.
Anand said the DGP’s office will present rewards to all awardees.

Director General (Law and Order) Mahesh Bhagwat, CID Director General Charu Sinha, Technical Services Director General Srinivasa Rao, Multi Zone-I Inspector General Chandrasekhar Reddy, Multi Zone-II Inspector General Shahnawaz Qasim, Commissioners of Police, Deputy Inspectors General, Superintendents of Police, unit officers, SHOs and other senior officials attended the review meeting.
