Hyderabad: On February 18, 2025, the Drugs Control Administration (DCA) of Telangana conducted a raid on an unlicensed godown in Uppal Khalsa, Medchal-Malkajgiri District, and seized illegally stocked medicines worth Rs. 6.7 lakhs.

The raid, carried out on credible information, took place at a godown in Laxmi Narayana Nagar Colony, Uppal Mandal. The owner, Addanki Venkata Suresh Babu, was found stocking drugs without a valid licence. During the operation, DCA officers uncovered a large quantity of medicines, including expired drugs like abortion kits, analgesics, and antihistamines.

The seized stock was valued at Rs. 6.7 lakhs. Samples have been collected for analysis, and further investigation is underway. The DCA has warned that action will be taken as per the law against those involved in such illegal activities.

Under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, stocking and selling drugs without a licence is a punishable offence, carrying a penalty of up to five years in prison. The DCA also urged wholesalers and dealers to ensure that recipients hold valid drug licences before supplying medicines, warning that they too would face legal consequences for supplying to unlicensed entities.
