Telangana DCA Seizes Ayurvedic Drugs for Misleading Claims in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Continuing its crackdown on unauthorised drug sales and misleading advertisements, the Telangana Drugs Control Administration (DCA) on Monday detected two Ayurvedic drugs circulating in the market with misleading claims that these medicines will treat diabetes, paralysis, and fever.

The DCA officials discovered that Ayushka Plus Herbal Tonic was being sold with misleading claims that it treats diabetes and paralysis, while another Ayurvedic medicine, Mahasudarshan Kadha, was being marketed with the false claim that it cures fever.

Notanly, advertising a medicine for the treatment of ‘Diabetes’, ‘Paralysis’ and ‘Fever’ is prohibited under the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954.

Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act 1954 prohibits the advertisement of certain drugs for the treatment of certain diseases and disorders.

No person shall take part in the publication of advertisements regarding the diseases/disorders indicated under the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954.

DCA conducted the raids on March 3 to detect these medicines, which were sold in the market with misleading and objectionable advertisements.

Raja Reddy, Drugs Inspector, Kamareddy and N. Sahaja, Drugs Inspector, Kukatpally are among the officers who carried out the raids. Further investigation shall be carried out and action shall be taken as per the law against all the offenders.
