Telangana DCA raids Narsingi medical shop, seizes fake kidney stone medicine

Hyderabad: The Telangana Drugs Control Administration (DCA) has intensified its crackdown on the sale and advertising of medicines with false claims. In a series of raids conducted on July 25 and 26, the department seized multiple drug products and unearthed an illegal drug stock.
Misleading claims lead to seizures
Two products were seized during the raids. Pathri Saaf Capsules and Syrup, an Ayurvedic medicine manufactured by Laborate Pharmaceuticals India Ltd., was found in a medical shop in Narsingi, Rangareddy district. The product carried misleading claims about its ability to treat kidney stones.
In another incident, Bhargava Phyto Labs Pvt. Ltd. confiscated Ague Nil Syrup, a homeopathic medicine produced by the company, from a medical shop in Khammam. The syrup’s label falsely claimed to cure fever. Both products violate the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act of 1954.
Drug inspectors D. Swetha Bindu (Gandipet) and Ch. Anil Kumar (Khammam) led the respective raids and are conducting further investigations.

Illegal drug stock found at homeopathic clinic
In a separate operation, the DCA raided the clinic of homeopathic practitioner Chavan Vinod in Puranapool, Hyderabad. The clinic was found to be illegally stocking and selling allopathic drugs without a valid drug license.
A large quantity of allopathic medicines, worth approximately Rs. 24,000, was seized. The seized medicines included several higher-generation antibiotics, the indiscriminate use of which can lead to serious public health concerns, including antibiotic resistance.
Drugs Inspector B. Lakshmi from Charminar conducted the raid under the supervision of Assistant Director T. Rajamouli. Samples of the seized medicines have been sent for analysis.
The DCA has appealed to the public to report any suspected illegal drug manufacturing activities or suspicious medicine sales to the Drugs Control Administration, Telangana, at its toll-free number, 1800-599-6969. The department has vowed to take strict action against those involved in such illegal practices.
