Telangana DCA alerts public on fake D-Calcium Pantothenate drug

Hyderabad: The Telangana Drugs Control Administration (DCA) has issued a warning to consumers and healthcare professionals regarding a counterfeit drug that is currently in circulation in the market. The fake medication, identified as D-Calcium Pantothenate IP/BP with Batch No. 240326M07, is falsely labeled as a product manufactured by Xinfa Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd. The address provided on the label is East of Huafeng Road, South of Beiwaihuan, Kenli Development Zone, Dongying City, Shandong Province, China.
The DCA has confirmed that D-Calcium Pantothenate is a fake drug that does not contain the actual ingredients it claims to have. This counterfeit medication poses significant health risks to consumers and could lead to adverse health outcomes.
One of the warning signs of a counterfeit drug is the lack of important information on the label. The drug should have the importer’s name and import license number, which are both necessary for products imported into India. Additionally, it should also have the required Quick Response (QR) code to enable tracking and tracing.
To address the issue, the DCA has instructed all manufacturers and dealers to immediately stop using, selling, and distributing the spurious drug. They are also urged to report any instances of encountering this drug to the authorities.
Consumers can report the counterfeit drug by calling the Telangana Drugs Control Administration’s toll-free number at 1800-599-6969 (operational from 10:30 am to 5:00 pm on weekdays). Alternatively, they can report it to their nearest Drugs Control Administration office. Details on contact numbers and addresses are available on the DCA website, https://dca.telangana.gov.in/ under the “Key Contacts’ section website.
The DCA is actively working to remove this counterfeit drug from the market. They urge all stakeholders to remain vigilant and report any information regarding its distribution or sale.
