Cybercrime spree: TGCSB arrests 48 cybercriminals
Hyderabad: Stepping up its effort to combat cybercrime in the state, the Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) has arrested 48 individuals involved in various cyber offenses. The coordinated operation, in collaboration with local police, led to the apprehension of suspects reportedly involved in over 2,700 cases across Telangana and the country, causing a total loss of Rs 8.16 crore.
The police have identified the arrested agents as Mohammad Feroz Pasha, Syed Sohail Hussain, SK. Atheeq, Praveen Desai, Samudrala Pavan Kalyan, Mohammed Minhaj, Thallapally Santhosh Kumar, Vaddepalli Naresh Kumar, Gujja Vikram, Singidi Sai Krishna. Mule account holders include Syed Mohsin, Aslam Ali Khan, Mohammad Imran, Akshay Kumar, Mude Sai Naik, Mohammed Shahed, Mahender Kachawaha, Venkatesh Desai, Syed Ilyas, Thallapally Vijay, Amir Khan, Vaddeboina Kondal Rao, Vaddeboina Naga Malleshwari, Asampally Shashi Kumar, Immadi, Manchala Venkatesham, Dudekula Ajaz, Karkam Kumar, Patha Alekhya, Thoparam Bhargav, Konda Sahitya Rani, Vemula Naresh, Banda Sridhar Rao, Rajanala Amarender, Kasarla Prem Kumar, Thatipelli Rakesh, Gudla Srinivas, Chigurupati Vishwanadh, Cheruku Naveen, Fazalur Rahman, Redupugant Suresh, Md. Khan, Dheeravath Srinu, Sanjeeth Mandal, Kandukuri Sudhakar, K Nageshwar Rao, R Vamshi, Mohammad Azad.The arrested 48 Cybercriminals who were involved in 508 cases across Telangana and 2194 cases nationwide amounting to a total loss of Rs 8.16 crore.
The arrested cyber criminals were involved in various cybercrimes including Business Investments (Trading), Job frauds, Digital Arrests, and Courier Scams. Among the arrested individuals, 38 were identified as mule account holders, and 10 were agents who facilitated the procurement and use of these accounts for criminal activities.
Investigation revealed that agents, lured by commission-based incentives, recruited mule account holders who knowingly allowed their accounts to be utilized for cybercrimes across Telangana and the country. These mule account holders have been found to be involved in multiple cases in the state and nationwide.
Arrested individuals from diverse background
The arrested individuals come from diverse backgrounds, ranging from unemployed individuals to professionals like cab drivers, small business owners, and IT employees. Their educational qualifications also varied, with 17 having completed SSC to Intermediate, 9 below SSC, and 22 holding a degree or higher qualifications.
During the operation, authorities seized 53 mobile phones, 4 laptops, 5 CPUs, 2 monitors, 18 bank passbooks, 16 cheque books, 10 ATM cards, and 1 Bajaj Pulsar bike.
Director TGCSB, Shikha Goel, commended the team led by Devender Singh, SP, and their dedicated Dy. SPs, Inspectors, and team members for their meticulous planning, monitoring, and execution of this operation, demonstrating TGCSB’s commitment to strengthening cybersecurity and tackling cybercrime in Telangana. The arrested individuals have been handed over to the concerned police stations for further investigation.
