Telangana Cyber Security Bureau refunds crores, launches Great AppSec Hackathon 2024
Hyderabad: The Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) has set a new record by returning ₹85.05 crore to victims of cyber fraud between March and July 2024, through the Lok Adalats system. This achievement was celebrated on August 9, 2024, at the opening of “The Great AppSec Hackathon 2024,” where the Director General of Police, Telangana, presented refund orders to seven victims and praised the joint efforts of TGCSB and Lok Adalats.
The TGCSB, in partnership with the Cyber Centre of Excellence (CCOE) and the Data Security Council of India (DSCI), inaugurated “The Great AppSec Hackathon 2024” today. The event has witnessed over 10,000 participants from more than 20 countries and all states of India, highlighting the critical importance of cybersecurity in today’s information technology landscape.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by distinguished dignitaries, including Jitender, Director General of Police, Telangana; Shikha Goel, DGP of the Telangana Cyber Security Bureau; Bhavesh Mishra, Deputy Chief Secretary, Government of India; Narendra Nath, Joint Secretary, National Cyber Security Coordinator (NSCS), Government of India; Harshvardhan, Superintendent of Police, TGCSB; Devender Singh, Superintendent of Police (Cybercrime, TGCSB); Dr. Sriram, DSCI; Sai Krishna, CCoE; and HCSS from the Netherlands/Cardiff, UK, who addressed the gathering virtually.
Their speeches pointed out the significance of cybersecurity education and innovation, setting a high standard for the competition.
Following the inauguration, participants will undergo a multiple-choice question (MCQ) screening round to evaluate their foundational knowledge of application security. The top candidates will advance to the Capture the Flag (CTF) round, where they will tackle a simulated e-governance application to identify and exploit vulnerabilities, mirroring real-world cybersecurity challenges.
Top performers will not only receive substantial prizes but will also gain access to exclusive internship and job opportunities provided by various IT firms, paving the way for their future in the cybersecurity field. The Great AppSec Hackathon 2024 stands as an advancing expertise in application security.
