Hyderabad: Telangana government wants the MLAs and ministers to vacate the houses allotted to them in the New MLA Quarters in Adarsh Nagar, Hyderabad. They have been issued notices by the Telangana Assembly Secretariat on Saturday.

The state government will soon construct a Constitution Club at the current housing complex for sitting and former members of the legislature. It will be very much on the lines of Constitution Clubs in Delhi and Rajasthan.

Among the ministers and MLAs who received the notices include, minister D Sridhar Babu, former minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav, former MP Anjan Kumar Yadav, and MLA Danam Nagender. The sitting MLAs have been assured that they will get new accommodations in the housing complex in Hyderguda area. The club will likely function under the chairmanship of the Assembly Speaker.

Officials of the Roads and Buildings (R&B) department have been tasked with the preparation of design for the Constitution Club. The Roads & Building department engineers and their survey teams visited the New MLA Quarters to make a report on the entities in the housing complex including permanent and temporary structures, trees, drainage system, water pipeline route map and underground drainage map.

The R&B department will take up the demolition work soon after the quarters are vacated by the Telangana Assembly representatives and ministers. The New MLA Quarters were constructed nearly 55 years ago. The housing complex is spread over an area of 22 acres and has 185 housing units.

The idea of Constitution Club was first mooted during the previous K Chandrasekhar Rao-led government. The KCR regime wanted to have all the modern facilities, including conference halls, restaurant, recreation and sports facilities to foster social contacts at the new club. MLAs and MLCs need privacy to spend time with their family members and this would be an ideal place, he stated.
