Telangana: Congress names Singhvi, Narender Reddy for Rajya Sabha

HYDERABAD: The Congress on Tuesday announced its candidates for the two vacant Rajya Sabha seats from Telangana. Senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi has been nominated under the All India Congress Committee (AICC) quota, while Vem Narender Reddy, adviser to the Telangana government and a close associate of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, has been chosen under the state quota.
Candidates to file nominations before Assembly secretary
After internal consultations, the party finalised Singhvi and Narender Reddy as its nominees. Both leaders are scheduled to submit their nomination papers to the Assembly secretary on Thursday.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee president Mahesh Kumar Goud, ministers and other senior leaders are expected to attend the nomination filing.
Congress numbers point to near-unanimous election
Given the Congress’s strength in the Telangana Assembly, both Singhvi and Narender Reddy are likely to be elected to the Rajya Sabha almost unanimously.
