Cold wave grips Telangana as temperatures drop to season’s lowest

HYDERABAD: Telangana recorded its coldest morning of this season as a sharp drop in minimum temperatures gripped several districts on Tuesday. Sangareddy and Asifabad reported the day’s lowest reading of 6.6°C, while Adilabad followed closely at 6.8°C, according to updated observations from weather trackers.
Sangareddy, Asifabad share lowest minimum of 6.6°C
Weather data showed Vikarabad at 7.8°C, Kamareddy 8.2°C, and Nizamabad, Medak and Rangareddy each at 8.4°C. Siddipet touched 8.9°C, Nirmal 9°C and Sircilla 9.2°C, marking a widespread cold wave across northern and central Telangana.
Officials said clear skies and dry winds contributed to the drop. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) is yet to issue a formal bulletin, but independent readings indicated a significant deviation from normal temperatures for early winter.
Hyderabad pockets see sub-10°C at HCU, Serilingampally
Updated city-level readings showed HCU Serilingampally at 8.4°C, the lowest in Hyderabad on Tuesday. Rajendranagar recorded 10.1°C, Alwal and BHEL 10.6°C, RC Puram 12.2°C, Neredmet and Chandanagar 12.4°C, and Kishanbagh 13.1°C.
Residents reported dense early-morning mist in several parts of the city, while commuters experienced noticeably cooler conditions.
Forecasters said temperatures could remain low for the next few days, especially in interior districts, if clear-night conditions persist.
