Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has directed officials to establish Indiramma Committees by the upcoming Dasara festival.

During a review meeting held on September 25, 2024, at the Sachivalayam, the Chief Minister said that modalities for setting up committees at village/ward, mandal/town, constituency, and district levels should be finalised within the next few days. He said the importance of ensuring that Indiramma houses are allocated to deserving individuals.

The Chief Minister also highlighted that Telangana is lagging behind other states in securing house sanctions from the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY), with many states having approved lakhs of houses. He instructed officials to take necessary steps to maximise the number of houses sanctioned to Telangana and to recover any pending dues from the Centre under PMAY.

Revanth Reddy urged for immediate updates to be provided to the Central Government and for regular updates on Indiramma houses to be maintained. He acknowledged potential challenges for engineering staff if a large number of houses are constructed and suggested considering outsourcing methods as necessary.

Additionally, the Chief Minister called for the auction of blocks and houses constructed at Rajiv’s residence, stating that it is unacceptable to delay the process further. He questioned the delay in handing over double-bedroom houses to beneficiaries, despite their selection being completed, and insisted that these houses be allocated to deserving individuals without further delay.

The Chief Minister also instructed officials to ensure that basic amenities are provided to unused blocks in Hyderabad city and to facilitate their handover to eligible beneficiaries.

The meeting was attended by Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, State Chief Secretary Shanti Kumari, Telangana Housing Corporation MD V.P. Goutham, and other officials.
