Revanth Reddy meets US ambassador, discusses visas and Telangana-US ties
HYDERABAD: Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Wednesday met US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor and raised concerns over visa delays, H-1B renewals and the welfare of Telangana students and professionals in the United States.
Chief Minister seeks more student visa appointments
Revanth Reddy requested an increase in the availability of US student visas for Telangana students pursuing higher education. He urged the US Embassy to ensure timely visa appointments, increase visa interview slots and speed up the processing of visa applications.
The Chief Minister also sought advance communication on any changes to US visa regulations to help students and professionals plan accordingly.
H-1B renewals and investments discussed
Revanth Reddy highlighted issues faced by Telangana professionals working in the United States. He requested a smoother and faster process for H-1B visa processing, renewals and visa stamping.
The meeting also covered ways to strengthen ties between Telangana and the United States, including expanding cooperation across multiple sectors and encouraging US investments in the state.
The Chief Minister said Telugu is among the fastest-growing languages in the United States and noted that the expanding Telugu-speaking community provides opportunities to deepen cooperation between Telangana and the US.
According to the Chief Minister, Ambassador Gor assured Telangana of support in broadening bilateral engagement across various sectors.
Safety of Telangana students also discussed
The safety and welfare of Telangana students studying in the United States also figured in the discussions.
Revanth Reddy thanked Ambassador Gor on behalf of the people of Telangana for what he described as the envoy’s friendship and support for the state and its people.
