Telangana CBSE Class XII students outperform national average
HYDERABAD: Students from Telangana performed strongly in the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class XII examinations this year, recording pass percentages higher than the national average across categories and school systems.
Nationally, CBSE recorded an overall pass percentage of 85.3%. Girls outperformed boys with a pass percentage of 88.86%, compared with 82.13% among boys.
According to CBSE data, 5,413 students from Telangana appeared for the examinations and 5,160 passed. While the board did not release an overall state pass percentage, category-wise data showed that general category students recorded a pass percentage of 94.8%, Other Backward Classes (OBC) students 91.2%, and Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (SC/ST) students around 88% to 89%.
Telangana, however, remained behind top-performing CBSE regions such as Thiruvananthapuram and Bengaluru, where pass percentages crossed 97% and 99%.
JNVs and KVs lead institutional performance
Among institutions in Telangana, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) and Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) recorded pass percentages above 98%. Government schools posted around 93%, while private schools recorded between 91% and 92%.
CBSE has more than 180 affiliated schools and over 100 examination centres across Telangana, indicating the board’s growing presence in the state.
Several schools in Hyderabad recorded a 100% pass percentage in the examinations. Glendale Academy achieved a perfect result, with student Aditi Swapnil Bajaj emerging as the school topper by scoring 495 out of 500 marks, or 99%.
Hyderabad Public School (HPS), Ramanthapur, also recorded a 100% pass percentage. Principal Dr Narsimha Reddy said the results reflected the students’ dedication and the school’s academic environment.
