Ramchander Rao calls 22-A land listings human rights violation

Bjp K

HYDERABAD: BJP Telangana president N. Ramchander Rao on Saturday said placing farmers’ land in the 22-A prohibited list without proper grounds amounted to a violation of human rights.

He was speaking at a BJP-led ‘Mahadharna on Bhu Bharati and 22-A’ at Dharna Chowk near Indira Park in Hyderabad, organised to protest against the alleged illegal inclusion of farmers’ land in the prohibited list under Bhu Bharati and 22-A.

The protest was led by BJP legislature party leader Alleti Maheshwar Reddy. BJP legislative council floor leader AVN Reddy, MPs Eatala Rajender, D.K. Aruna, Konda Vishweshwar Reddy and Godam Nagesh, MLAs Katipally Venkata Ramana Reddy, Paidi Rakesh Reddy and Ramarao Patil, MLC Malka Komurayya, state general secretaries Vemula Ashok, N. Goutham Rao and T. Veerender Goud, Kisan Morcha leaders, former MLAs, former MLCs and other BJP leaders attended the protest in large numbers.

Ramchander Rao alleges commissions in prohibited-list changes

Ramchander Rao said the Bhu Bharati system and the 22-A prohibited list were causing serious difficulties to people, particularly middle-class families and farmers, across Telangana.

He alleged that the previous BRS government had handed over the Dharani system to a blacklisted software company and committed irregularities. He said the Congress government came to power promising to introduce Bhu Bharati to correct those shortcomings but was now acting in an even worse manner.

Rao alleged that while land was removed from the prohibited list for 15% commissions under the previous government, commissions of 30% were now being collected under the Congress government.

He said the government was introducing new laws based on committees such as the Kodandaram committee and imposing them on the people. When the chief minister and ministers themselves admit that mistakes have occurred, those responsible in the government should be punished, he said.

BJP seeks judicial inquiry into 22-A land entries

Rao said not only farmers but also middle-class people who had bought small plots and built houses in suburban areas such as Malkajgiri were being affected.

He said even properties in Jubilee Hills and Banjara Hills were being included in the 22-A prohibited list.

Rao alleged that private patta lands were being placed in the prohibited list in the name of government and Wakf Board lands. He said this indicated a “malafide intention” on the part of the government and alleged that the exercise was aimed only at covering up corruption.

If a dispute involved only part of a survey number, the entire survey number was being placed in the prohibited list, he alleged.

Rao demanded that the government immediately order a judicial inquiry by a sitting High Court judge into the alleged irregularities, saying the inquiry should cover the entire process.

BJP warns of agitation from streets to Assembly

Rao alleged that the revenue system in Telangana had completely collapsed and said collectors were not even giving farmers appointments to explain their problems.

He said nearly 50 lakh people across the state were now unable to sell their land or obtain bank loans for their children’s higher education or marriages.

“Having rights over one’s own land is a constitutional human right. The state government is trampling even these human rights,” Rao said.

Rao mocked the previous BRS government, saying only KCR’s family benefited during its rule, while under the Congress government, the “Revanth Reddy and brothers government” was benefiting.

He alleged that the Assembly session was being restricted to just two days because the government lacked the courage to face questions from the Opposition. He also said the government was afraid of democratic protests and was denying permission for dharnas.

Rao demanded the immediate removal of all farmers’ and people’s land from the 22-A prohibited list.

He warned that if the government failed to do so, the BJP would launch an uncompromising agitation “from the streets to the Assembly”.
