Telangana BJP MPs write to Narendra Modi

HYDERABAD: A letter written by some Members of Parliament and leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Telangana to Prime Minister Narendra Modi has triggered political activity within the state unit.
The letter, reportedly sent in the name of strengthening the party in Telangana, refers to organisational challenges faced after winning as MPs. It highlights internal issues such as factionalism, rival group behaviour at constituency level, and allegations that some senior leaders favour specific groups in districts.
The MPs are understood to have raised concerns about political obstacles at local levels. These include restrictions on their activities, indirect resistance from leaders, and difficulties in holding meetings or touring constituencies they earlier represented.
CSR funds, party issues flagged
The MPs have also sought allocation of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds to spend within their Lok Sabha constituencies. Alongside this, the letter reportedly details reasons for the party’s limited growth in the state, including leadership style, dominance by certain leaders, and interference in multiple organisational matters.
The development has gained political attention as several BJP MPs from Telangana — excluding two Union ministers — are said to have written the letter. Some MPs have admitted that they submitted representations seeking CSR fund allocation for their constituencies.
One MP told the media, “We wrote the letter. What is wrong in that?”
Laxman vs Arvind on letter culture
Meanwhile, the issue surfaced during an interaction with media at the BJP office on Wednesday. Party parliamentary board member K. Laxman said there is no culture of writing letters within the BJP and stressed that the party functions as a team, not around individuals.
He also asked whether remarks made by Mallikarjun Kharge during election campaigning qualify as hate speech, and said Chief Minister Revanth Reddy should clarify the matter.
Responding to Laxman’s comments, Nizamabad MP Arvind Dharmapuri disagreed. He said Laxman himself had earlier written a letter against him to the party leadership, alleging anti-party activities and abusive language.
