Telangana Bar association calls for suspension of all court services

Hyderabad: Following an attack by Siddipet police on an advocate, Executive Body of Federation of Bar Associations for the State of Telangana gave a call to suspend the services of all the courts of Telangana on Thursday.
Going further into details, Siddipet police attacked an advocate M. Ravi Kumar, who is practicing in Siddipet courts. On Tuesday went to Siddipet-II Town Police Station along with his client who is an accused in a case registered at the police station to furnish the sureties as per the anticipatory bail orders of Telangana High Court.
The Telangana High Court granted an anticipatory bail to accused Gudumani Rakesh but the Assistant Sub Inspector(ASI) Uma Reddy working Siddipet-II Town Police Station instead of receiving sureties forcibly took the accused to Government Hospital, Siddipet for medical check up.

“The accused and his counsel have objected to the medical check up, therefore the ASI beat the accused and the same was recorded by his counsel. Then the ASI took the mobile from Advocate and threw it down by damaging it and also attacked on Advocate. Due to which Advocate M. Ravi Kumar sustained bleeding injury on his left hand thumb and completely damaged his mobile phone. Subsequently the police has registered a false case against the Advocate in Siddipet-I Town police station,” said the Executive Body of Federation of Bar Associations in an official statement.
In view of the above incident, bar association members strongly condemned the unlawful acts of Police and also demanded the Director General of police(DGP), Telangana to suspend the ASI Uma Reddy of Siddipet-II Town Police Station and immediately withdraw the case registered against Advocate M. Ravi Kumar by Siddipet-I Town Police Station.
Further they warned of serious action against the police and gave a call for boycotting the services of all the courts of Telangana state.
