Expect fireworks as Telangana Assembly winter session begins today
Hyderabad: Telangana’s Congress government anticipates fireworks from the Opposition BRS and BJP as the State Assembly and Council winter session will commence from December 9 at 10.30 am.
The ruling party is gearing up for the winter session of the Assembly as it coincides with the completion of one year of the Congress government in office. The ruling party is celebrating its first anniversary in power.
Ahead of the Assembly session, chief minister Revanth Reddy said the Congress government has waived farm loans of 25 lakh farmers by depositing over Rs 21,000 crore directly into their accounts since it came to power in Telangana.
He added that other state governments are discussing ways to emulate its women welfare schemes, caste census, and environment-centred urban development policies. The Congress government will likely introduce and pass a new Record of Rights (RoR) Bill during the session.

Meanwhile, the Opposition benches are entering the House armed with several issues to corner the government. Earlier in the day, the BRS party issued a charge sheet criticizing the one-year rule of the Congress in Telangana.
In the 18-page document, party leader T Harish Rao alleged that the Revanth Reddy-led government had failed to fulfill its election promises. He stated that anarchy was prevailing across the state, with common people being lathicharged for raising their demands, while opposition leaders were being abused for holding the government accountable.
BRS working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) met the victims of Lagcherla violence and assured them that he would seek answers from the state government over the attack on them in the state Assembly. The locals have been protesting against the land acquisition in Lagcherla for a government project.
Last week, the BJP released a comprehensive charge sheet against the Congress government, highlighting alleged failures and unfulfilled promises during its first year in power.
The saffron party is expected to corner the government over issues like land acquisition and poor residents’ houses demolished under projects like Musi Rejuvenation and Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Protection Agency(HYDRAA) activities.
