HMWSSB GM remanded in DA case after ACB finds cash, assets

HYDERABAD: Officials of the Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau produced Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board General Manager Saggam Anantha Lakshmi Kumar before a court in connection with a disproportionate assets case on Wednesday.
The court remanded Kumar to 14 days in judicial custody. He was later shifted to Chanchalguda Central Jail.
Cash-counting machine brought during searches
According to ACB officials, searches conducted at Kumar’s residence in Mallapur on Tuesday led to the recovery of large quantities of ₹500 currency notes. Officials reportedly brought in a cash-counting machine to process the seized money.
The ACB said it identified assets worth ₹5.88 crore based on registration value. Officials added that the estimated market value of the properties is believed to be more than ₹100 crore.
The case pertains to alleged possession of disproportionate assets by the HMWSSB official. Further investigation is under way.
