Telangana ACB files 19 cases & arrests 17 public servants for corruption in January 2025

Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials of Telangana, Hyderabad registered a total of 19 cases in January 2025, including 10 trap cases, 1 case of Disproportionate Assets, and 3 cases of Criminal Misconduct. In addition, the ACB ordered 3 regular inquiries and 3 discreet inquiries during the month.
Seventeen public servants, including three outsourcing employees and private individuals, were trapped, arrested, and remanded to judicial custody.
A total of Rs. 1,45,000/- was seized in the trap cases involving various departments such as Education, Revenue, Home, Finance, Animal Husbandry, Municipal Administration & Urban Development (MA&UD), and Health, Medical & Family Welfare.
In a significant case of Disproportionate Assets, the ACB unearthed assets worth Rs. 65,50,000/- from the Tribal Welfare Department.
The ACB has urged the public to report any instances of corruption or bribery by public servants to their toll-free number 1064. Complaints can also be posted on their official social media accounts on X (Twitter @TelanganaACB) and Facebook (@telanganaacb) for swift action.
In one of the notable incidents, on January 17, 2025, ACB officials arrested Senior Assistant R. Santhosh Tiwari from the ENT Government Hospital in Koti, Hyderabad, for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 3,000.
Santhosh Tiwari had initially demanded Rs. 20,000 and had already received Rs. 17,000. He was caught red-handed by the ACB’s City Unit-1 when he accepted an additional Rs. 3,000 from a complainant to expedite the processing of their retirement benefits.
The bribe money was recovered from Santhosh Tiwari’s office, and a chemical test on the desk where the transaction occurred yielded a positive result. Santhosh Tiwari, a UDC at the ENT Government Hospital, was arrested and presented before the Hon’ble Principal Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases at the Nampally Court, Hyderabad.
