HYDERABAD: The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) caught an Alair revenue inspector and a Grama Palana Officer while allegedly accepting a ₹14,000 bribe in a land registration-related case, according to an ACB press note issued on August 24, 2026.

The ACB identified the accused as Vemuganti Purnachander Rao, Revenue Inspector, Alair mandal, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district, and Shaik Ahmed, Grama Palana Officer of Kolanupaka village.

According to the ACB, Rao demanded ₹14,000 from the complainant for issuing a report to the Tahsildar. The report was intended to facilitate registration of land sold by the complainant’s sister.

Bribe recovered from Grama Palana Officer

The ACB said its Nalgonda Range officials caught Rao on July 24, 2026, after he demanded and accepted the bribe through Ahmed.

The ₹14,000 was recovered from Ahmed’s possession at Rao’s instance, the agency said.

The ACB said the two accused officials had improperly and dishonestly performed their duties to obtain an undue advantage.

Officials produced before special ACB court

The two accused were produced before the I Additional Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases at Nampally for judicial remand. The case is under investigation, the ACB said.

The agency withheld the complainant’s details for security reasons.
