Telangana Clean Energy

HYDERABAD: Telangana will transform itself into a clean energy manufacturing hub and aims to attract investors across sectors, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said on Tuesday.

Bhatti Vikramarka was speaking after inaugurating the two-day India Energy Summit & Expo 2026 at HITEX and Novotel in Hyderabad. He invited investors, innovators, scientists and chief executive officers to participate in the state’s growth.

“Investors, innovators, scientists, CEOs… I warmly invite all of you. Telangana is a state that promotes every kind of investment—it is truly a paradise for investors. We are ready to share our growth and prosperity and welcome you wholeheartedly to grow with us,” he said.

State plans major expansion in solar and storage capacity

Bhatti said the energy transition was not limited to changing the source of electricity generation. It would reshape the wider economic system and Telangana wanted to become a major manufacturing hub for clean energy technologies.

The state plans to increase its solar power capacity to 20,000 MW by 2030 and more than 26,000 MW by 2035, he said.

Telangana also plans to expand energy storage to support the integration of renewable power. Battery energy storage and pumped storage projects are expected to take the state’s storage capacity to 3,800 MW by 2030 and 8,000 MW by 2035.

Hyderabad’s technology base to support future power grid

Bhatti said Hyderabad’s strengths in information technology and artificial intelligence would be used to develop a digital power grid.

The state is also planning a dedicated 100 MW renewable energy plant to support an artificial intelligence data centre in the proposed Bharat Future City.

Telangana has set a target of producing 4,00,000 tonnes of green hydrogen annually by 2030. It also plans to establish 12,000 electric vehicle charging stations by 2035.

Companies manufacturing solar, wind and battery components in Telangana will receive capital support, state goods and services tax reimbursement and electricity duty exemptions. They will also get fast-track approvals through TG-iPASS, he said.

Bhatti said the energy transition would require strong government-private partnerships and invited industrialists to join the state in the effort.

After the inauguration, he visited exhibition stalls at the summit. Energy Special Chief Secretary Navin Mittal and other officials were present.
