Telangana plans 120 tech centres to train youth for future jobs
Telangana : Telangana Labour, Employment, Training and Factories Minister Gaddam Vivek Venkataswamy said the state government is establishing 120 Advanced Technology Centres (ATCs) across 119 Assembly constituencies to equip youth with skills for emerging technologies and improve employment opportunities in India and abroad.
Vivek laid the foundation stone for a new ATC at Rudrangi in Rajanna Sircilla district, which falls under the Vemulawada Assembly constituency. Official district records confirm Rudrangi as a mandal in Rajanna Sircilla and show that most of the mandal is part of the Vemulawada constituency.
He said the government was building a system that would support students from skill training through placement, reducing the difficulties they face in finding jobs after completing their courses.
Employment patterns were changing rapidly with the growth of artificial intelligence, electric vehicles, robotics and drones, he said. “To prepare youth for the future, the state is setting up 120 Advanced Technology Centres across 119 Assembly constituencies,” Vivek said.
The minister’s portfolio is officially listed as Mines and Geology, Labour, Employment, Training and Factories.
Agriculture technology course proposed for Rudrangi ATC
Vivek directed the Director of Employment and Training to examine the feasibility of introducing an advanced agriculture technology course at the Rudrangi ATC. He suggested consultations with the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT).
He said students at Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and ATCs were being provided a monthly stipend of ₹2,000 to prevent financial difficulties from forcing them to discontinue their education.
Vivek alleged that ITIs had been neglected during the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government’s tenure.
“The Congress government has transformed them into Advanced Technology Centres offering modern, industry-oriented skills,” he said.
Overseas jobs, language training in focus
Highlighting overseas employment opportunities, Vivek said the Telangana Overseas Manpower Company Limited (TOMCOM) was facilitating jobs for skilled youth in Germany, Japan and other countries. Nurses, electricians, caregivers and other professionals could earn more than ₹2 lakh a month in some overseas jobs, he said.
The minister announced that a German language trainer would be sent to Rudrangi if 100 eligible youth were identified. TOMCOM would facilitate overseas placements after they completed the training, he added.
He asked Government Whip and Vemulawada MLA Aadi Srinivas to mobilise eligible candidates and directed officials to organise an awareness programme next week. Telangana government records list Aadi Srinivas as the Vemulawada MLA.
Vivek criticised BRS working president K T Rama Rao for ridiculing Telangana youth learning German. He said it was inappropriate to mock economically disadvantaged youth aspiring to secure higher-paying jobs overseas.
The minister also criticised the previous government over the Kaleshwaram project. He said the original Pranahita-Chevella project had been redesigned into an energy-intensive scheme that imposed a heavy financial burden on the state.
Vivek praised Aadi Srinivas for his work in the constituency and said an Integrated School was being established in Vemulawada constituency at an estimated cost of ₹200 crore.
He said Telangana’s ATC model had received a positive response from the Union government and that the state had secured three clusters under the PM SETU scheme, with each expected to receive nearly ₹200 crore.
“Our objective is to provide Telangana’s youth with quality education, advanced skill training and meaningful employment. I urge students to make the best use of these opportunities and build a bright future,” Vivek said.
Aadi Srinivas, Rajanna Sircilla district collector Garima Agrawal, Director of Employment and Training A Nirmala Kanthi Wesley, public representatives, officials, students and local youth attended the programme.
The district administration currently lists Garima Agrawal as Rajanna Sircilla collector and district magistrate, while the state Labour department lists A Nirmala Kanthi Wesley as Director of Employment and Training.
