Telangana plans 1 lakh affordable homes in Hyderabad for poor, middle class

HYDERABAD: The Telangana government has begun groundwork for constructing 1 lakh Low Income Group (LIG) houses in Hyderabad as part of an affordable housing initiative for poor and middle-class families.
Revenue and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy said the project aims to fulfil the dream of home ownership for economically weaker sections and middle-income households.
Along with Minister Mohammed Azharuddin and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, officials inspected potential sites in Nampally, Malakpet and Bahadurpura constituencies for the first phase of the housing project.
Officials identified unused government land parcels and dilapidated structures in areas including Kulsumpura, Afzal Sagar, Kaladera and Gaddiannaram for redevelopment into housing complexes.
The government said the initiative, being taken up under the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, is intended to ease Hyderabad’s housing shortage and provide residents with improved civic infrastructure and dignified living conditions.
The proposed housing projects are expected to focus on affordable urban living with access to basic amenities and public infrastructure.
