Jubilee Hills police station Hyderabad extortion case

HYDERABAD: The son of film director Teja has alleged that a Hyderabad-based couple cheated him of ₹63 lakh after luring him with promises of high returns through trading investments.

A case has been registered at the Jubilee Hills police station following a complaint by Amitav Teja, who is a businessman residing in Hyderabad.

Promise of high returns

According to the complaint, Amitav Teja came in contact with Yarlagadda Anusha and her husband Kondapaneni Praneeth, residents of Mothinagar, in April 2025. The couple allegedly promised unusually high profits through trading and assured him that they would hand over their apartment flat if the investment incurred losses.

Trusting their assurances, Amitav Teja invested money with them.

Fake documents shown

A week later, the accused reportedly showed him fabricated documents claiming a profit of ₹9 lakh. Believing these to be genuine, Amitav Teja transferred money in multiple instalments, eventually paying a total of ₹63 lakh.

Police case registered

When no profits were paid and even the principal amount was not returned despite repeated requests, Amitav Teja realised that he had been cheated and approached the police. An investigation is under way.
