Telangana : The Telugu Association of London (TAL) marked its 21st anniversary and Ugadi 2026 with a cultural event on March 21, 2026, at SKLPC, Northolt, in West London. The programme brought together hundreds of Telugu families from across the UK.

The event was convened by Vasudeva Reddy Mayreddy under the leadership of chairman Ravi Sabba and the board of trustees. Members included Anil Ananthula, Kiran Kappeta, Ashok Madishetti, Ravi Mocherla, Sridevi Aleddula, Venkat Neela and Satya Peddireddi. The organisers said the event reflected TAL’s efforts to promote Telugu culture and community engagement over two decades.

Musical performances and cultural showcases draw strong response

Singer Vandemataram Srinivas was felicitated with the Cultural Excellence Award for his contribution to Telugu music and literature. Folk performers Relare Ganga and Nalgonda Gaddar, Narsanna, presented Telangana cultural acts.

Playback singers Akhil Chandra and Shreenika Mahati performed classical and contemporary songs. The programme was hosted by Anchor Ravi and team.

Students from TAL Cultural Centres (TCC) staged performances, highlighting participation of younger members of the diaspora. Partner organisations from across the UK also contributed to the programme.

Lifetime honour recognises leadership and public service contributions

TAL presented the Lifetime Achievement Award to Lord Udai Nagaraju, citing his elevation to the House of Lords and contributions to public life, including initiatives in leadership and artificial intelligence.

Former chairpersons Sridhar Medichetty, Sridhar Somisetty and Sridhar Vanam, along with Bharati Kandukuri and Satyendra Pagadala, presented the award alongside the current leadership.

Seema Malhotra, Member of Parliament, attended as a distinguished guest and praised TAL’s role in community service and cultural preservation.

The association also released its annual souvenir, Maa Telugu 2026, showcasing literary contributions from the diaspora. Editor Vamsee Mohan Singaluri was felicitated for his work.

TAL announced the upcoming T20 TAL Premier League (TPL), aimed at promoting youth engagement and community wellbeing.

Chairman Ravi Sabba said Ugadi serves as a reminder of cultural roots and responsibility towards future generations. Convenor Vasu Mayreddy thanked volunteers, including Ravindar Reddy Gummakonda, Ravi Vasa, Laxman Kota, Roy Boppana, Srihari Arige, Pavan Tirunagari, Suneetha Arige, Madhavi Thotakura, Uma Ananthula, Bindu Putluru and Murali Kota, for organising the event.

For over 21 years, TAL has served as a platform for the Telugu community in the UK, focusing on cultural, educational and social initiatives.
