Hyderabad: Kukatpally police have arrested the domestic help and his accomplice in connection with the brutal murder of 50-year-old Renu Aggarwal at Swan Lake Apartments in Kukatpally police station of Cyberabad Commissionerate.

On 10 September 2025, at around 7:30 PM, Kukatpally police received an alert regarding a murder. Responding immediately, Kukatpally police rushed to the spot and found a 50-year-old woman killed in her apartment. When meticulously examined, she was found with grievous stab injuries and her throat slit.

Investigators have revealed that the two suspects, Roshan and Harsh, are from Jharkhand, both reportedly hailing from the same village near Ranchi. The prime suspect, Harsha, was hired from a manpower recruiting agency based out of Kolkata. Further probing revealed that Rakesh Agarwal used the agency’s services to recruit people more than three times. Another suspect, Rohasn, who worked as a house help on the 14th floor of the same apartment building, was employed by the family eleven months ago.

Under the supervision of DCP Balanagar Suresh Kumar, five multi-departmental teams including Central Crime Station (CCS), Special Operation Team (SOT), and Kukatpally police were formed to nab the suspects. According to police sources, the prime accused were nabbed from Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand state, and their accomplice from New Delhi. Earlier, Kukatpally Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) E Ravi Kiran Reddy said, “One team has been dispatched to Ranchi, Jharkhand, to coordinate with local police and track the suspects’ whereabouts. Another team is dedicated to examining CCTV footage from in and around the city. A third team is scouring railway stations and public transport hubs to trace the suspects’ movements as they are on the run. The other teams are working on forensic evidence and background verification.”

It is pertinent to note that Rakesh Agarwal, who is a steel trader in Fathenagar, informed the police that he and his son left the apartment around 10 a.m. for their shop. After repeated calls to Renu went unanswered, they rushed home around 5 p.m. When she didn’t open the door, they gained entry with the help of a plumber from the above apartment. They found Renu Agarwal in a pool of blood with her hands and legs tied. The incident is now being investigated as a premeditated act of torture.
