Telangana Master Artisans Shine at Oscars 2026 Red Carpet

HYDERABAD: Indian jewellery brand Swadesh made a striking impression on the 2026 Academy Awards red carpet. Singers and actors showcased handcrafted pieces created by master artisans from Telangana. As a result, the designs brought the region’s rich jewellery-making tradition to one of the world’s most prestigious stages.
Brandi Carlile’s Sunflower-Inspired Brooch
Singer Brandi Carlile wore the Petal Prism Brooch, which draws inspiration from the organic geometry of a sunflower. The brooch features a luminous oval-cut emerald set at its centre. In addition, pavé-set diamonds surround the emerald and enhance its brilliance.
Moreover, artisans arranged the diamonds using an open-setting technique that allows light to pass through the stones. As a result, the brooch reflects greater sparkle and depth.
Master artisans from Telangana handcrafted the brooch and spent more than 100 man-hours completing it. Notably, they shaped each petal and the diamond-studded stem with great precision. They also used traditional goldsmithing techniques passed down through generations.
Catherine Shepherd’s Elegant Diamond Necklace
Meanwhile, actor Catherine Shepherd wore a Swadesh diamond necklace designed to mimic the softness and flow of fabric.
The designers engineered the necklace with exceptional flexibility. Therefore, it drapes naturally across the neckline. Additionally, the articulated structure draws inspiration from the delicate barb of a feather. Each segment moves freely and forms a fluid silhouette.
Furthermore, a continuous ribbon of hand-set diamonds runs through the necklace. The diamonds follow a refined chevron-inspired pattern with subtle Victorian-era detailing. Consequently, the piece balances elegance with intricate craftsmanship.
Celebrating Telangana’s Craft Heritage
Through these creations, Swadesh highlighted the legacy of Telangana’s skilled artisans. Their expertise in shaping precious metals and gemstones continues to sustain centuries-old jewellery traditions.
Ultimately, the pieces showcased at the Academy Awards served not only as high-fashion accessories but also as a tribute to India’s rich craft heritage.
